
Professor Rajvinder Singh

Rajvinder (Raj) Singh is a Professor of Medicine with the University of Adelaide and the Director of Gastroenterology at the Lyell McEwin & Modbury Hospitals, South Australia.
He practices privately at Nunyara House, 43 Adelaide Road, Gawler South and performs procedures privately both at the Gawler Health Service and the Calvary Central Districts Hospital.
Prof. Singh sees all Gastroenterology and Hepatology related problems.
Upon completion of his GI training in 2005, Prof. Singh received the Lancet International Fellowship, which enabled him to undertake a higher research degree on Narrow Band Imaging in Barrett’s Oesophagus at the University of Nottingham, UK. He has a keen interest in Advanced Endoscopic Imaging Techniques and Endoscopic treatment/resection of premalignant and malignant lesions in the gastrointestinal tract.
He is an Editorial Board member of Endoscopy (the 2nd leading Endoscopy journal in the world), a past Editor of Digestive Endoscopy and a past Co Editor of Endoscopy International Open. He is presently an International committee member of the World Endoscopy Organisation (WEO).
He is very passionate about Endoscopic Research. Over the last 10 years, he has published an average of 10 papers and 1 book chapter per year (overall: >100 peer reviewed papers and 10 book chapters). He has been successful in obtaining (close to $AUD1,000,000 cumulatively) of grants including from the Cancer Council/Cancer Australia to further investigate the utility of novel endoscopic imaging techniques in the detection of dysplasia and early cancer in Barrett’s Oesophagus. More recently, work on the investigation of the utility of serum biomarkers for colon cancer was selected as the top 10 best medical research initiatives in the country by the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC, Australia).
He is a member of the Gastroenterological Endoscopic Society of Australia (GESA). He was a Councillor with GESA from 2015-2017 and the past chair of the Australian Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Association (2015-2017). He is actively involved in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students. Further testament to this resulted in Teaching Awards at the Lyell McEwin Hospital in 2008 and 2009.
Prof Singh is frequently invited to conduct basic and advanced endoscopy workshops for both trainees and consultants across the country and overseas. He has had speaking engagements and ‘live’ endoscopy demonstrations in more than 100 workshops around the world including in the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, Korea, India, Singapore, New Zealand, Indonesia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Thailand, Malaysia, Myanmar and the Philippines amongst other countries.

Prof Singh have extensive experience in the detection treatment of early cancer/polyps in the entire Gastro Intestinal Tract (Oesophagus, stomach, duodenum, colon) using numerous ‘new/novel’ Endoscopic Imaging modalities.
